Steph Web Wednesday – February 29, 2012

Web Wednesdays – each Wednesday we will feature a website that we’ve come across while in our process of searching for inspiration, the latest trends, or learning about anything and everything we can get our hands on that interests us.

Happy Leap Day!! Today’s Web Wednesday brings us Pandora Jewelry’s Website. In particular there is an awesome feature, that the site highlights, that allows users to take control of their own jewelry designs, quite literally. The interactive capabilities are incredible, by using your mouse you can rotate your bracelet, and also select charms to add. The charms can be rotated around the bracelet and be interchanged. And if you decided you don’t like it, you can start from scratch. When you’re finished you can also save your design and go back to it to add new charms.

I would say that the only downfall to this site is that its functionality was designed in Flash, so the page is not accessible on smartphones. Otherwise, it’s a great site for someone who wants to create their own jewelry designs and have a little fun with it.

Known as ‘The Modern Way to Work Together,’ Asana is a new task management system, that I stumbled upon the other day. It allows users to invite up to 30 members to a workspace for free, where you can begin to organize your business in a few simple steps. You can view your teams tasks and priorities as they are assigned, to help your business run more smoothly and efficiently. Asana is not only limited to the workspace though, you can also collaborate with friends or groups that you belong to, while keeping everything separate. There is also a great activity feed for every task, sort of like an instant message, where you can write down your thoughts and ideas for the other project members to read and comment on. It really heightens the project efficiency. Think of it as, you are having a business meeting without even leaving your office.

What’s also great, for those workaholics out there, Asana also has a mobile app available for both droid, iphone and ipad. So you can stay on top of your projects on the go. Essentially it’s a great customizable to-do-list for those of you that just need a little extra help with staying up-to-date on your tasks.

I always love a good story, and now the web offers a great site that allows you to piece together your own photos, videos and music and rearrange them in a way that you allows you to tell fun stories your way. TumbleCloud describes itself as a place for “collaborative digital storytelling.” It has a built-in and easy-to-use video editor, which allows users to create a quick “video montage” shall we say, out of their own videos, photos and/or music. The site offers users the capabilities to “capture a special day, market a small business, work with clients, and collaborate on a project.” Growing as a social network of sorts, TumbleCloud lets you connect with people that you know, and allow them to add more media from the moments you have captured to videos that you’ve already created.

TumbleCloud is brand new to the scene, having been launched in Beta only last week, so users will need to request an invite to  become a member of the site. But what’s great is that they offer a test run for you to create your own storyboard. So if you like what you see, you can get bragging rights after you become one of the first members of TumbleCloud.
