Our second installment brings you the likes of James Sephenson and the crew at Precision Auto Repair in downtown Springfield. James approached us with a slew of concerns regarding his website. First of which was the look of the website itself – it looked outdated and unimpressive. He then asked us to create a strategy for SEO (search engine optimization), social media presence and integrate marketing tools into his new website.

Needless to say, we took care of Precision Auto Repair. Check out their case study!

Precision Auto now enjoys an incredible looking website, a wide ranging social media campaign, and SEO that puts them at the top of the list.

copyright image for website contentMany online marketing experts and social media gurus will tell you to utilize the power of free advertisement and global reach of social media networks such as Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and many others. I give the same advise to our customers in their journey to grow their business online.

One thing that I always remind them is to use the social networking websites as a vehicle to broadcast their content, but not necessarily as a tool for housing that content.

I don’t think that Twitter and Facebook are going away (at least not any time soon), but content posted/created on those websites stay with them.

I believe that it’s a good practice to use your website and/or blog to create and house your content, and then, broadcast it across the gamut of networking websites. This way you always have new and rich content boosting your business’ web presents and, at the same time, you are utilizing that power of global reach through your favorite social networking websites.

I would love to hear your feedback on this subject – follow the conversation and leave your feedback on our Facebook Page.

Steph Web Wednesday – November 30, 2011

Web Wednesdays – each Wednesday we will feature a website that we’ve come across while in our process of searching for inspiration, the latest trends, or learning about anything and everything we can get our hands on that interests us.

Wow! I can’t believe it’s the last day of November already (don’t forget to check back tomorrow for our December Wallpaper). For this week’s Web Wednesday I am posting about, Pinterest.com; a newly developed social network site connecting people through common interests. Once you receive the invitation to log in, you can start creating your own ‘Pin Board’, a collection of interests that you have found online or through the Pinterest site that other people have posted. Some people have used it to plan weddings, and find creative DIY home projects. Others have used it for their daily dose of inspiration (ehem like myself) while others use it to collect yummy recipes. The possibilities are endless and the site is amazingly simple to use. If you are looking for something specific you can use the search bar to help narrow down the results or you can view what is ‘trending’ on the main Bulletin Board. You can also add the Pinterest Button to the browser that you are using, so anytime you find something creative to share with the world, click the button and it will be added to your Pin Board.

You can also download the free Pinterest App from the App Store and access the site through your smartphone. This site is also great for businesses to promote the products that they sell. By putting the Pinterest Button on your product page, any visitor to your site can click to add the product to their Pin Board and generate more activity for your site.

I’m really impressed by this site, and I have developed a slight addiction, so I figured I would pass it on, Enjoy!

Freerice

Web Wednesdays are back! To start us off, I wanted to introduce you to the Freerice Program. I came across this a few years back and thought it would be a nice addition to our blog. I always love it when design & interactivity is capable of doing some good in the world, and this is a prime example.

Freerice is an interactive website that challenges your trivial knowledge. For every question you correctly answer the Freerice program will donate ten grains of rice to impoverished families all over the world. The subjects that you are challenged in range from Language, Math, Geography, Chemistry and more. It may seem too easy at first, but the questions will become more difficult the longer you play the game.

The website itself, has evolved into including multi-language settings, capable of reaching out to other countries for aid. Last year the UN World Food Program picked up the program and updated the sites capabilities to include social networking, groups, rankings and achievements. So now it is accessible through Facebook and twitter, check it out!

The program originally started back in 2007 and has donated an insurmountable number of rice to families. This past month alone, they were able to donate over 100 million grains of rice capable of feeding over 6,000 people in one day.  So I challenge you to visit this site and answer as many questions you are capable of in one sitting, and you will find that before you know it you’re hooked. Enjoy!
