Web Wednesdays – August 24, 2010

Web Wednesdays – each Wednesday we will feature a website that we’ve come across while in our process of searching for inspiration, the latest trends, or learning about anything and everything we can get our hands on that interests us.

We’ve missed last Web Wednesday, so today you get to see not one, but two highlighted websites, OPEN from American Express (aka “OPEN Forum”) and Domino’s Pizza. Enjoy!

OPEN from American Express

Business first, I must have seen the TV commercials for OPEN Forum a million times in last few years, but never took time to check it out.

OPEN Forum is a large online business community created by American Express to assist small businesses with their everyday needs. It allows its users to communicate with each other online, sharing their ideas of innovation, lifestyle, managing, marketing, technology and others. It also serves as a match-making system, let me explain:

Business ABC is in need of marketing, well, marketing agency XYZ offers just that. Both businesses are part of the OPEN Forum, which allows them to connect with each other and do business.

A cleaver idea if you ask me!

Domino's Pizza

Food! Who does not like to eat?! Well, I myself, love food, I’m not a big pizza connoisseur, but the other night neither my wife or I wanted to cook, so we decided to order out.

Domino’s Pizza was our agreed pick (don’t ask why!). This website blew me away. While you are ordering it has a real-time visualizer that shows you how your pizza will look with toppings of your choice. After the order is placed, the Pizza Tracker screen shows your the progress of your online order. From ordering your pizza to delivery.

I remember growing up in Russia not really knowing what pizza was or having much access to getting one. So I improvised – making my own, but I could have never imagined ordering one online and seeing the progress of the pizza being made. This is pretty amazing.
