Web Wednesdays – November 24, 2010 – Thanksgiving Edition
Web Wednesdays – each Wednesday we will feature a website that we’ve come across while in our process of searching for inspiration, the latest trends, or learning about anything and everything we can get our hands on that interests us.
Considering that tomorrow is Thanksgiving Day, we wanted to highlight something holiday-related this Web Wednesday.
Black Friday (November 26th, 2010) is the busiest shopping day of the year. Many people get up early (or even stay up all night), put on their warm clothes, get their favorite coffee and get on their way to the mall. Retail stores have amazing deals all day long on Black Friday, and many of the stores have “door busters”.
I remember my first (and last) time getting up early on Friday after Thanksgiving to stand in line at BestBuy. We got there at 2 am and the doors were opened at 4.
To this day most of the retailers try to keep their special Black Friday deals a secret until Thanksgiving day circular comes out, but due to the internet and social media a lot of those special deals become public knowledge prior to Thursday.
There are many websites that feature Black Friday deals, but we wanted to highlight one of them today along with a cool iPhone/iPad app called TGI Black Friday.
This website is called – BlackFriday (www.black-friday.net). Everyday, for last few weeks, it has been updated with hot deals and promos. The website allows you to browse all the specials in store and online; view deals from a specific retailer; sign up for email and RSS feed updates about newly added sale items and more. You can even create your own shopping list and map out your time frame for when to be at which store.
TGI Black Friday app is amazing as well. It ultimately offers similar options just in the palm of your hand. Below are some screen shots of the app:
If you are a person that looks forward to Black Friday – these two sources are extremely helpful.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
