We have created the Talk to Me website to help Smith’s Picker Engineering Program to inspire young people to engage in engineering through the electronic media that they use to communicate. Consistent with the vision of Smith’s Picker Engineering Program, the Talk to Me project views engineering as applying basic scientific and mathematical principles in the service of humanity. Its educational design is based on the theory that narrative, used well, not only conveys a coherent view of understanding but also engages the imagination. The Talk to Me website provides a platform for the project where learners can read the novel, interact with the characters, and explore the engineering concepts that appear within the novel.
