Web Wednesdays – each Wednesday we will feature a website that we’ve come across while in our process of searching for inspiration, the latest trends, or learning about anything and everything we can get our hands on that interests us.
This week we wanted to highlight Wistia, a company based out of Lexington, MA, whose software provides a detailed visual analysis on how often your videos are watched, how long they are watched and if certain sections are skipped over or re-watched. Now this may seem a little ‘1984’ but it’s pretty cool when you test it out on their site and see how they break it down for you. (See photo below). Using Wistia’s software will also be beneficial for you when you want to create more effective videos for your audience, by noticing if certain sections of your video are skipped over, you know to eliminate that from your video the next time you make edits.
Wistia also provides complete customization tools that allow you to design the appearance of the video , which can be the initial pull for someone to start watching them. Wistia provides social sharing capabilities, visual transcripts as well as call to actions at the end of the video to help boost your sites traffic. They provide free services for a maximum of three videos, so if you like the experience you can then create a customized account or choose one of their annual or month-to-month packages.
